My dad was in town earlier this week and we decided to kick off Qingming Festival a few days earlier then the usual Saturday affair. If anything it’s way better seeing as you don’t have to battle heaps of people who all try to celebrate on the same day. Hong Kong is ridiculous in many ways just cause often the demand of the services far outweigh the supply. Every weekend between 6:30 – 8:30 pm you see people lining up for restaurants, for elevators, pretty taxing after awhile. So anyways, for Qingming Festival, we went to my grandpa’s burial place. I never really knew him all that well, so I always jump at the opportunity to participate in this kind of shit. It’d be foolish to think that it enhances some sort of spiritual bond, but all in all, I feel I owe him a shitload. My only way to really get to know him is through family stories and I’ve got a ton of respect for the guy. I’m sure a lot of opportunities that have come my way have been thanks to his hard work, nothing direct but he paved the groundwork for it I guess you could say. Anyways, the premise involves you going and offering a bunch of stuff, whether it be food or symbolic gifts. Burning a whole lot of incense and burning a lot of shit in general.

If you need to send some XLarge your ancestors way… they got it all haha.

Writing the name of the deceased on the “symbolic” gift

Grandpa Kan was always a brandy man haha

My dad and his younger brother watching that shit go up in flames

Met with Annie and Brian afterwards for an upcoming project. Annie has the fastest hands in Hong Kong, couldn’t stop her from losing to me at GMT ping-pong!!!

Brian and his group 24Herbs teamed up with Japanese condom makers okimoto on an awareness campaign. okimoto’s claim to fame… .02 condoms… 2mm thick domes.
