Good People

new-york-state-of-mind-43

Thanks to the internets, I’ve been fortunate to meet a solid group of people. Yeh, our communications rarely extend beyond email but there is that off-chance I do get to meet the same people I’ve been conversing with for a minute.  I don’t remember exactly who shot the first email or what our first chat was about, but one dude I hold in extremely high-esteem is Alex Dymond. No picture as I know he likes to keep a low-profile from what I gather but I do have pictures of his latest and greatest project, laces between his Starks brand and OriginalFake on the iconic Chomper pattern (thanks for the laces mang). Anyways, we’ve exchanged countless emails which go beyond just your usual “streetwear” fodder and actually touched on some real meaningful shit. Shit that in the grandscheme of things really ties everything together from your approach and life philosophy, to the dififculties of making it big and and doing it correctly. With lots up his sleeve, I’m excited to see the final product. A solid background thanks to being involved in some local NYC skate brand on Lafayette, he has all the tools and above all else a good head on his shoulders to do huge things.

I also met up for a quick glass of water (literally that’s all I drank haha) with fellow Gunners supporter and blogger brethren Nick Schonberger of Selectism/Curated/Social Consumer. Nick’s on this quest to meet as many of his blogging peers as possible and he’s done admirably and if I’m not wrong he’s up to almost 15 people. Everybody’s a blogger these days which isn’t necessarily something I worry too  much about but I personally know few “professional” bloggers so it’s always good to connect with somebody who understands much of the same shit you’ve been going through. When I first spoke with Nick on email, I was seriously intimidated, worrying about being judged at every piece of incorrect grammar or mis-spelled word thanks to his writing and demeanor on Social Consumer haha.

Hit up Andrew Chen of 3sixteen and his freshly opened Self Edge New York. Based on a previous post, you’ll know I hold 3sixteen in high-esteem and I look forward to many great things from both 3sixteen and SENY. He’s always good for an interesting and insightful conversation. I shoulda grabbed a pic of two peeps that were also around, the infamous JKISSI who has endless middle-age white dudes hitting him up on PM about his style and 3sixteen’s resident bitch (intern) Chris… fellow Prairies boy Chris.

The day I was leaving made sure to check out Ecko…

Yeh he has quite the empire…

Bradley who recently celebrated his 17th birthday with a huge party bus… too bad I missed that masher.

Last but not least, stop at the Cool Hunting office with Tim and Ami. Tim’s a good shit!!!
