(Favorite Cudi track by far)
While the whole Singapore F1 Grand Prix Experience took up a good chunk of time, I still managed to get away and meet-up with some good people while in Singapore. It’s interesting to hit up a new city and through the experiences, get (or try to get) an understanding of the cultural landscape. The Chinese population ranges through South Asia in great numbers yet each specific region possess their own specific outlooks. Singapore despite the perceived governmental instituted restrictions is surprisingly liberal in my eyes. There’s all this talk about getting hit in the ass with a can, chewing gum etc which sort of scared me. I guess if you get caned and you pass-out or can’t continue they stitch you up, wait for it to heal and go for a round 2. Touching further on getting caned and punished, according to the people around, yes it does happen but the golden rule is “don’t get caught”. There seems to be a real change in the guard as the people that have overseen the change in Singapore still maintain a fierce pride in their country and are willing to forgo a degree of freedom due to their allegiance to the changes that went down. However, the incoming generation are wishing for more and more liberties. Singapore 10-20 years from now will be a much different societal landscape but I really need to give Singapore the “two-time” rule, that is visit it at least twice to form a better understanding of how things work.
Back to the perception that things are more liberal, people on the whole just seem less likely to front like in HK. Not sure the degree of accuracy as an indicator, but the clubs seemed to yield a far more outgoing bunch relative to Hong Kong. And perhaps unlike Hong Kong, the different ethnicities in Singapore seem much more prevalent with certain aspects of the city dedicated to the non-Chinese population. Having said this, the other races don’t seem as much as an after-thought and sliver of society as they are a more unified and stronger group within the society as a whole. This aspect/thought is something I’m only speculating about and I’m not really sure EXACTLY how it works but this is just my quick overview.

The archeitecture in Singapore is pretty interesting, cool little pockets throughout the city with some unified themes.

JJ’s SMUDGE Store

Not usually open on a weekend, I felt bad when Charlyn came to open up shop haha.

This month, October 16th, ORDER AND CHAOS brought to you by SMG & Devilock… really thinking if I should pop by for this one…

Jahan for Devilock… Jahan also has an upcoming art show in Beijing with Devilock as well.

This was taken at Haji Lane… not really indicative of the spot’s atmosphere and this hand steez is terrible but the long and narrow lane had a good vibe to it.

This is sort of appetizing… I guess……….

JAZ… nobody how you try to pronounce has name, you’ll get it wrong. This guy was an unreal host the whole weekend and really gave me a good look into the city despite limited time.

I couldn’t do the straight-up Indian steez and eat with my hands.

Lambo meet, congregating to watch the F1 race at the Mandarin Oriental…

Earn Chen of Surrender and the big boss man Kevin. Speaking with Earn, sounds like he has a brand cool brand roster in the works that some may not deem too synergistic. Yet I feel that upcoming, it is the perfect reflection of the direction fashion is going.

Took a bit of a hike to get out here… SO WORTH IT.

This wasn’t part of the deal.

I was shooting fireballs after this.

Shaved Ice… still the worst dessert ever in my books… and there was corn in this shit. Chinese people love to throw corn (cream corn nonetheless) into the most un-opportune instances.

Kazuki-look-a-like Charles

I shit-kicked this pretty good

Lollipop Chicken was dope.

Big-ups to Charlyn, Charles, Jaz and Nick… hopefully see you soon and quick shout-out to Jeremy, Jessica, Yi Fang and Melvin!!!
