So little did I know adidas Football has some big things planned for 2009/2010. Well 2010 doesn’t really come as a surprise with World Cup on the horizon. The adidas Predator football boot franchise turns 10 and with it comes a highly secretive adidas Predator X that is about to drop in the next little bit here. But of course, early leaks albeit mostly in an all-blacked out state are available especially given the need to test the boot prior to a commercial launch. I’m not sure exactly when, but there ended up a point where blacked-out boots were really big, for me it was like eight years ago? I remember painting/Sharpie-ing the stripes out on my adidas Sambas and painting the stripes/external heel cup of my Black/Red Manias sneaker-customizer style. The shit chipped but looked good for one session.

As well keeping with the “theme of ten”, adidas are re-releasing a retro of the past 10 official World Cup balls in both cute little mini-balls as well as their original full-sized big brothers. Pretty crazy shit, I still remember the Unico from 1990, going to my dads games and stealing it out of the ball bag cause it had an obviously better touch. I’ve played with every ball minus the Telstars and Azteca but the one that seemed the shittiest to use was World Cup 1998 Tricolore ball while the 2002 Japan/Korea ball was a bit of a double edge sword. You could absolutely hammer those balls but as a keeper it was the start of unpredictably flighted balls.
adidas people… you know where to find me for the Predator Xs haha!!! The relevancy of this post… probably about 1.5/10 for regular readers.
Thanks to the crew over at The Original Winger for the heads up.
