Been a steady influx of good reading the last few days and with it comes this latest Link Dump. I don’t think people have returned to “full capacity” so to say and I welcome that. I still can’t go off enough about how good it feels to not be raped with RSS every morning when I wake up and hopefully, with New Years Eve falling on a weekday, people will keep it pretty relaxed. I reckon corporate heads are still on vacation though which is good too haha.
I’m pretty regular with my “nutrition” posts cause I find that shit fascinating. Obviously our food system is broken in the Western world as witnessed by rising rates of obesity and other ailments, yet the cure isn’t all that difficult. Even starting off by cutting out all the refined bullshit that seems to be a staple amongst many is a great start. However, easier said than done for having a mass change in the food system when so many multi-national corporations have vested interests throughout our food system.

Why it’s time to lighten up about “weird” Japan
Japan has long been the focus of many, from the girls to the gadgets, but why exactly? Is it cause for many Americans it mirrors their own culture and they find some sort of association in that?
Taking Hold in Silicon Valley, a Ping-Pong Boom
I can see why the parents of these point-dexters are ushering them into the world of Ping-Pong… they might actually get hurt in a… real sport. Not that I don’t appreciate Ping-Pong, I just think that relatively speaking, it’s easier to excel at a sport like Ping-Pong at any level cause there are relatively less players aka nobody gives a shit about it. China does tend to win a lot of medals for events nobody cares about and with good reason, only they have enough population to insert athletes into this events haha /endChinahate.
Helmet Standards Are Latest NFL Battleground
With inescapable evidence that football is fucking people’s lives up post-career, the next place to do battle is the helmets. But the problem, the over-design comes into play but only under the most extreme circumstances, not the little knocks and bumps every player experiences which are potentially the hits that add up and affect a players brain health.
Is Organic All It’s Cracked Up to Be?
So it’s been established, organic food nutritionally isn’t better for you… but what it does offer is chemical-free food. I wonder how much healthier and how much more money would be saved if we do eliminate all the chemicals that make their way into our diet.
A Celebrity Sweats: It’s Richard
I hadn’t heard about Richard Simmons in a minute… but I guess he’s still around and kicking it… teaching classes at age 61 in Hollywood. Still a fucking nutjob at best, his contributions are honorable though and I tip my hat to that.
Biggest Fight in Years Turns on Question of Blood
Boxing can’t afford for the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight to not happen… but the debate is raging on (further from this article)… Pacquiao afraid of blood? Pacquiao juicing? Mayweather being a pussy?
Can’t-Miss Prospect Who Did Returns at 28
After being a highly touted player straight out of high school with a seemingly bright future ahead of him, he had to retire in 2006 due to chronic knee problems. But dude is back with the Knicks this year. However beyond that is his strong off-court contributions to society through various “social entrepreneur” work he’s done… I love it when athletes who without a doubt have a great set of tools at their disposal use them for more than just sports.
Is Our Data Too Vulnerable in the Cloud
Is it worth having all your information a few clicks away anywhere in the world as it sits in the “cloud” despite the fact it’s now easier to get a hold of all your details?
Can Google’s Banner Change the Course of the Browser Wars?
Can and will Google blow their Chrome browser up by making a download banner available on their Google.com search page? I think so… the product itself is REALLY good, all it needs is that visibility.
On Web, Workshops to Create One-of-a-Kind Gifts
I like this idea of creating something personalized however, as much as it’s cool, just like customizing an iPod, I think part of it is an elaborate ploy to make gifts un-returnable.
Inspiring Buffalo Rookie Tops High Expectations
I wonder what Tyler Myer’s wingspan is with a stick, how you supposed to beat him 1 on 1? He’s 6’8 and apparently skates like butter. With skating being such an integral part of hockey and so different from any other sport (nobody really needs to learn to “sprint”), why do we have “bad skaters” out there? It’s such a fundamental part of the game.
Ferguson says he has had to step back at United
The art of delegation, what a difficult skill it is. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson gives a break-down of who has to answer to him.
Dr. Robert Lustig on Fructose – Alcohol Without the Buzz
Why are you fat? Four words, High Fructose Corn Syrup. Nobody will watch the video I bet, but Dr. Robert Lustig goes into gory detail about why fructose is so bad for you and how it has some of the similar effects of alcohol.
Weighing Medical Costs of End-Of-Life Care
“The more tubes you put in, the more you get paid…”
The never-ending debate on when to pull the cord, but what’s interesting here is that for some people, a full recovery is never a possibility and a return to a normal life is usually out of the question. So is it worth it to continue piling on the resources when they’re finite and better used on somebody else?
Bloggers Crash Fashion’s Front Row
Yup yup… bloggers are going to be seen front row more and more often. It’s inevitable but as we know it, soon it’ll be the print magazine editors in the minority.
Earth-Friendly Elements, Mined Destructively
Ironic how it works, China mines for materials that will make their way into smart technologies like electric motors for cars at the cost of destroying the environment around them.
Not Just Tiger’s Temptations
A rare perspective from that of a personal athlete of how it’s that much easier to get pussy once you become a professional athlete.
For Clijsters, There’s Life With and Without Tennis
I don’t think “motherhood” is necessarily the reason Clijsters is a better player, growing up in general I would say is the main factor.
Sorry, Shoppers, but Why Can’t Amazon Collect More Tax?
Amazon is keeping prices low by not charging tax for all of you minus 5 states and in the process screwing the government out of tax-revenue… per-say haha.
The Leptin Manifesto
Leptin is this hormone in your body that tells you when you’re full and to ensure your body maintains proper energy expenditure. However, as you cut calories, your leptin levels decrease hence the lowered metabolic rate you experience. However, how can you ramp up your Leptin stores and keep your body in proper metabolic order when losing fat… CARB BINGES.
