After a few months of solid use, I can confidently say the Canon S90 (casual mini review here) has been one of the best pick-ups in the last little while. From the size and performance… nothing to dislike about the cam at all except maybe one thing. The relatively simple and understated curveless design of the camera can be a bitch to hold sometimes. So I heard about this custom grip which many people were raving about. The grip works pretty well with the overall flow and aesthetic of the camera’s front side. I had actually heard of grips before for the Canon G-Series and I guess it’s the same maker (maybe Canon should take note and build cameras that are more ergonomically friendly in the hand). The overall quality of the component was good and matches up in color and feel with the OEM S90 body. I almost fucked it up putting it on cause I sort of mis-judged exactly how sticky the 3M provided adhesive was. I literally had to peel the sucker off and re-stick it. I wouldn’t say that with the grip the camera is 100% better but close, maybe 80-90% better but you can rest assured it sits in your hand a lot more confidently. The grip set me back $32.95 USD + $4.50 USD shipping so it really isn’t cheap by any stretch. But if you can drop ~$400 USD for a camera, I think it’s worth checking out.
Sorry about the crappy pic, the lighting source is behind the laptop and the laptop is on a slant so in actuality the focal point of the picture… the GRIP is underexposed but you get an idea of what it looks like.
