I still remember that shitty but still very cool Swiss Army pocket knife I got as a little kid on that one Christmas morning. I’m pretty sure it was fake and I could tell but nevertheless it still had this interesting allure to it. This would slowly develop over the years into a relatively healthy obsession into small little gadgets and what not but I was never one to act on it… aka buy pointless/dumb and relatively expensive shit.
While all this time I had an affinity for various functional gadgets, I had no idea there was an actual term for various functional stuff one would carry everyday until I stumbled onto this thread at SuperFuture courtesy of @LazyVillain. Since October, the thread has been pretty popular and given a new opportunity for people to spend money haha. The notion of “EDC” (Every Day Carry) items comes across to me as a product that checks off all the right things in terms of fundamental design. Yes its functional and given the wide selection out there, yes it can be aesthetically pleasing. The two basic components of design are fulfilled and available to you at a relatively affordable price. It satisfies a certain craving for wanting the best of the best for a product within your means. I’ll never own a Ferrari, but I sure as hell can and will own a SOG PowerAssist B66 (which hopefully doesn’t get confiscated by customs when it gets sent over) for $70 USD.
Anyways, while this isn’t “technically” an Everyday Carry cause I work from home, if I’m going out, I’m pretty much bringing this shit.
(Starting from ~left to right)
-Gerber Trendy (Pear Wood Inlay) Knife: Looks good but that’s about it, not a huge fan of it.
-CASH MONEY
-Clean&Clear Oil & Dirt Removing Wipes: My face gets hella greasy at times haaaa.
-2nd x Red Moon Long Wallet with Rein (not pictured)
-Blistex DCT
-Petz’l Am’D Locking Carabiner (screw-lock): I had no idea it would be so big… and the color was random
-[on the carabiner] Fenix LD01 Flashlight: I can’t believe I dropped $40 USD on a AAA battery flashlight…
-[on the carabiner] Gerber Serrated Ridge Knife: I don’t like it. Has the potential to open up on its own and not that sharp out of the box.
-[on the carabiner] SanDisk 2.0 GB Cruzer: I need to update this sucker but it was FREE-99 so I can’t complain.
-[on the carabiner] BaseControl Dr. Bacty Anti-Bacterial Towel
-[on the carabiner] Keys… DUH
-Luminox 3051 “BLACKOUT” with a 3rd party metal bracelet
-Canon PowerShot S90 with Richard Franiecs Grip
-MUJI aluminum cardholders x 2 (1 skinny, 1 fat): My grandma is this huge advocate for splitting up your cards. So skinny one is for vital cards like ID, credit cards and bank card. Fat one is for business cards.
-MUJI Leather Coin/Card Holder: Just grabbed this cause I some how lost mine the other day. I keep my bullshit cards in here like subway, gym card.
-Nokia E71 with a Red Moon Strap: Best phone ever, this phone doesn’t get enough love at all. Too bad it doesn’t have any software/apps/support to back it up.
-MoleSkine Volante
-MoleSkine Ruled Notebook Pocket
-MUJI Gel Pens (either 0.38 or 0.5)
-Pilot G2 (0.38, 0.5 or 0.7)
-Eugene
P.S. Cause I’m OCD, I pretty much tagged everything.
