(Taken from #8 The Peanut Solution)
I think despite the fact I read so much, the one thing I need to work on is retention. Getting the gist of the article seems to be my main goal and I’m not sure how satisfying that is when you can’t really recall the details that lead up to the actual importance of the article.

China Corner
#1. Clothes dryers given tepid welcome in China
One thing the nouveau-rich won’t touch… clothes dryers, how ironic. But putting your laundry outside doesn’t seem like a “clean” option either.

Well then… remind me to not skimp on a few hundred bucks to fly with a China airline.
#3. The Power of Group Online Shopping Hits China
Group buy sites are entering into the thousands, but just like anything else in China, be weary of the scammers.
#4. Resentment Simmers in Western Chinese Region
Han and Uighur’s still don’t see eye to eye and I don’t think the ethnic Chinese really care?

#7. ***Making Soldiers Fit to Fight, Without the Situps
How sad, the US army needs to re-visit it’s physical standards. If you don’t have the brains, you should have the brawn no?
#8. ***The Peanut Solution
WTF, trying to peddle glorified peanut butter as something ground-breaking and worthy of the title of intellectual property. It’s ironic how helping others in itself is a business.
#9. Modified Salmon is Safe, FDA Says
Mixed thoughts, will this succumb to some sort of food poisoning a la eggs/salmonella case?
#10. Commercial Organic Farms Have Better Fruit and Soil, Lower Environmental Impact
Previously, I was under the assumption from other articles that organic wasn’t in any way better nutritionally, however I guess this article proves otherwise.
#11. Another look at fluid ingestion and temperature regulation
I figured as much, drinking water doesn’t cool you down, but sure makes you feel better.

#13. ***Superbroke, Superfrugal, Superpower
Yes, it seems fun and a common past time to mock the demise of the United States. But maybe it might be the case of the “you never really know until it’s gone”. The US does play a certain important role on the global political scene that whether you like it or not is required. Somebody has to stick their neck out to make decisions and with the US diminishing its role, who will do that?

On the intermittent fasting tip… contrary to what you’d think, not eating is what you need for those marathon study sessions.
#15. ***Acid Diet (High-Meat Protein) Effects on Calcium Metabolism and Bone Health – Research Review
Once a important tool in the vegetarians arsenal, protein and calcium loss is debunked.

#17. The Ontology of Plagiarism: Part Two
I like the notion that plagiarism’s underlying disservice is that you’re unable to properly tackle the “complexities of society”. If only the same thoughts are continually re-hashed, there is no progress.
#18. Is Android Surging Only Because Apple Is Letting It | Android Is As Open As The Clenched Fist I Want To Punch The Carriers With
Talk of why Android is surging and the fallacy that Android is the almighty “open source” platform that many claim to be its defining point.

Interesting… insects such as cockroaches are so used to living in filthy environments, their brains have adapted to ensure they can survive foreign bodies.
