Hanuta: Why Are You So Delicious?!

I’m not huge on the sweets and candy wagon, although when I do, I have to admit I go much harder than I should haha. But ever since my friend Andy from Germany put us onto these about 2-3 years ago, ever time he or anybody rolls in from Germany we all look forward to a box of Hanuta. Albeit, after a bit of research, Hanuta’s actually made by Ferro (of Ferro Rocher fame) which sort of took the mystic of it since most people consider it a traditional German confectionery. According to Wikipedia, Hanuta is an acronym for Haselnusstafel, otherwise known as hazelnut bar in German.I guess Ferro do Kinder Surprise and their other two-tone chocolate treats.

Hanuta’s basically chocolate and hazelnuts sandwiched between two crispy (unless you got some bunk ones) waffle/wafers, wrapped in a gold foil. I’m sure the golden foil does its job of making it seem higher class than it really is, but I haven’t met a Hanuta hater yet.
