Pretty stoked on this latest purchase… the Gore-Tex Paclite Paddy Pallin Agent Jacket. For a hot minute I was on the search for a breathable, waterproof trench. Couldn’t have come at a better time as the typhoon season is hitting Hong Kong. If it wasn’t so god damn humid in Hong Kong, I wouldn’t have been so adamant in finding a Gore-Tex piece. Just a heads up… Gore-Tex trench coats are fucking hard to come by or super-expensive. I don’t even think Gore-Tex Paclite is all that breathable anyways in the hotbox that is Hong Kong but it seems to be the most popular material of choice. Despite arguably better materials out there like Schoeller c_change/3XDRY out there (for the record Canada Goose does have quite a few waterproof breathables in more classic aesthetics), they still can’t fuck with Gore-Tex cause they have their marketing on lockdown. Back to the jacket and just the incorporation of high-tech materials into classical pieces, shit just makes perfect sense. You aren’t foregoing aesthetics and you get the added technical benefit. Sure the quinessential Mackintosh trench is the originator, but I heard you’ll just sweat your balls off cause the thing doesn’t breath. Each season, I look forward to the technical offerings that emenate mostly from Japanese brands like NEIGHBORHOOD, White Mountaineering, WTAPS, Visvim and UNDERCOVER cause they seem to really embrace their concept of providing unseen performance into their apparel. As for fit, unfortunately the jacket fits a little looser around the arms (biceps) but other then that, everything is pretty well-done. The design is minimalistic with a removable hood and just two front waist pockets. But it is totally packable into its own little mesh bag, a good choice for a trip.
