Taken from #19 Shanghai Prepares for Expo 2010 – The Big Picture
I’ve been on Paul Graham’s dick the last few days trying to read as many of his articles as possible. While many are venture capital-related, there are some good lessons to be learned from not only the VC-related articles but also some of his general insights and theories. There’s a handful of interesting and relatively long articles I included but definitely worth checking out. On a sad note, Beckham’s ruptured Achilles tendon sucks. I would have rather seen him snubbed for Africa cause of poor form rather than completely ruled out cause of injury.

I guess this is considered c-u-t-e.
#4. Pictures: Player Spotting: David Beckham Predator X
Unfortunately no more Becks for a few months. I’ve been a huge Becks fan… since I was 15 my Internet handle was Becks7 haha. I can’t really see a reason to hate the guy. He’s a model professional, loves his country, loves playing for his country… ok maybe you hate him for not having dangles and not having great tackling abilities but nobody said he was the world’s best player.

What’s the time… it’s time to get ILL!!! How much longer will North Korea remain in this bubble?

A literal visual application of “information leak”… pretty clever.
#7. SSS – Pictures: Cornification
I think this would look weird at home… it is after-all a corn-shaped pillow with removable kernels… ok maybe a kids room would be cool.
#8. ***The List of ‘N’ Things
Ironic I started off this Link Dump with a “list”. Paul Graham talks about what exactly the list represents in literature and reporting. In short, lists make things clear cut, easy to understand and require less processing power to figure out the themes and ideas.

Becoming ramen profitable = making enough to cover your living/basc expenses and signifcantly improving your leverage against investors.
#10. Pictures: Air Jordan V Tattoo
WORST TATTOO EVER. As Chris O’Leary put it… “So his love of sneakers, which I’m guessing led to his tatt in the first place, has him in a position where he’ll want to show his bare feet off as much as possible. It’s tragic, really.”

“THE MENTALITY OF REVERSE RUNNING
Current ready-to-wear collections are primarily aimed at celebrities or fashion insiders. This fashion produced for the catwalk only lives in the magazines, it is totally detached from reality. This ‘unreal’ system is sustained by the fashion and marketing industy. On the other side, mass-produced and cheap clothes now determine fashion trends. But is their any passion embedded in this soulless mass production of cheap production? Promotion and marketing consume most of the money the sales of these clothes generate. Ordinary consumers are attracted to fast fashionchain stores and even form long queues outside them. Money has become the new authority, this is the new trend. Everything has become associated to money. Is this what fashion ultimately about? What role does fashion or design play in this scenario? The reason why we at Undercover like to pursue fashion is because we believe that fashion enriches our daily lives. Although our clothes may not be the one, they are still properly designed. We try to embed love and passion into every single item we design and produce. This is our style. It would be great if more consumers would support our philosophy of this. Our aim is to build a community of like minded people who strive with us towards a different reality where the true values of fashion matter again. Last collection’s theme was Less But Better. With our current collection we continue this philosophy whilst at the same time extending it by integrating issues of daily life. We call it Undercover”

#17. ***Taking On China
So the cracked out Wen Jiabao (China’s Prime Minster) said that the Chinese currency is fairly valued… this article breaks it down rather simply what effects a devalued Chinese currency has on the world. As well, he says the United States is in a pretty decent position to fight back.
