…not literally but his book is in my room. Todd Selby of The Selby has been doing his thing for awhile. If you’re not familiar, his globetrotting ways has seen him enter the homes of a handful of influential creatives from music to art and fashion. It’s like a pictorial version of Robin Leech’s “Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous” meaning I have no chance of ever getting in there. But you’ve probably seen some of my room surroundings, they’re pretty cramped and boring haha.
While privacy is become paramount in our world these days, opening up to the world on your own accord and in a controllable manner is much different than having it unknowingly thrusted out for all the world to see. The aspect of The Selby’s work I appreciate the most is the penchant for personable, hand-written responses that accompany his features. As well, despite the fact I have bad handwriting, my appreciation of it I assume is probably similar to those that appreciate print, there’s a bit of romanticism with the mechanical element of it all as we see an increasing reliance on the digital world.
The book is a perfect coffee table reader and $23 USD for a hardcover is a pretty good deal!
