Shanghai x Nike Free Run+ 2 “City Pack”

The Shanghai version of the Nike Free Run+2 “City Pack” was part of a solid range of sneakers that started hitting the Internets a few weeks ago. The pack combined the regional elite including Tokyo, London, New York City and Rio de Janeiro. I wish the pack could have included Hong Kong involvement, but those times are over. Aside from a crappy Nike SB Angus from 2005 which is so bad that Google Image searches are sparse, HK will probably be consistently overlooked from here on out for any lifestyle projects. I’m not totally mad but it would be nice to rep something from your adopted city.

At the end of the day, the minuscule island of 7 million caged people simply doesn’t have the economical or cultural clout when it steps up to the plate against Beijing or Shanghai. A head start of many generations in colonial socialization and a generally more liberal environment doesn’t go very far when stacked against the growth of China’s market and that piece of the pie.

No more thinly veiled socioeconomic banter, the shoes are friggin’ sweet. This hue is not the moth orthodox of colors, but I happen to like the deeper version of it on my all-time favorite UNDFTD Dunk High NLs, so I am sold. This pack aside, tonal seem to be permanently ingrained among color designers in the last few seasons and has true lasting power… like work wear? It’s really a no-brainer when it comes to picking colors; the final outcome is often desirable albeit not the least bit creative. Still… fine by me. The Free Run+ 2 tooling is flexible enough by almost everybody’s standards, but it’s the amount of cushioning that’s messing with my proprioception at every footstrike. I patiently await a lifestyle version of the Nike Free 0.5 ;).

On a sidenote, the Minolta MC Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 did its job admirably, but I tired to take the lens off the adapter and it seems stuck ugh.

Thanks to Jacqueline and Brenda over at Nike HK!!!
